Senior Business Development & Anesthesiology Program Consultant

During his 29-year career in healthcare, Jerry Ippolito has practiced as a healthcare business management consultant and medical group practice administrator.

Prior to entering consulting he was executive vice president of a 300-physician multi-specialty medical group practice having collected revenues in excess of $120 million (1991 dollars). In this capacity he was responsible for all elements of program and services delivery operations.

In the field of healthcare consulting Ippolito is regarded as one of the nation's leaders in assisting hospitals to mediate relations between hospitals and physicians with a focused expertise in developing hospitals' anesthesiology and perioperative services programs.

During his fifteen years in surgery consulting he has focused his skills on identifying and developing business opportunities for healthcare institutions and physicians; enhancing hospitals' marketability to surgeons by improving OR efficiencies; optimizing use of surgeons' and anesthesiologists' time.

His management experience combined with the application of knowledge gained from graduate degrees in corporate finance and healthcare finance vitally contribute to the success of organizations with which he is associated.

During his professional career Mr. Ippolito has achieved significant successes as follows:

  • developed strategic and business plans working with medical staff, hospital administrators, and other key personnel, by analyzing trend and market share data to determine priorities, opportunities and resources requirements
  • developed financial models to guide hospitals in allocating resources (e.g. technology and OR time) in a financially optimized matter based on returns on investment
  • refereed numerous contract negotiations between physicians and hospitals with specialized skills in the area of anesthesiology programs
  • consulted with department heads in development and identification of systems and processes to evaluate quality improvement and program expansion opportunities
  • recruited clinical and research oriented physicians with primary focus on medical staff development and relationship building
  • managed physicians' retirement benefits, health and welfare programs, and professional liability insurance programs
  • administered an $84 million (1990 dollars) pension and profit sharing trust
  • managed a $120 million medical practice budget (1990 dollars)
  • managed professional office and clinical space in 33 locations
  • managed new construction of professional/clinical complex (320,000-sq. ft.) as well as coordinating the renovation of over 50,000 sq. ft. of professional space
  • successfully recruited, established and/or acquired practices of 140 physicians
